Sea Cider is seeking a part-time Culinary Coach to help lead, mentor, and develop our kitchen team. If you're an experienced chef who enjoys coaching junior staff and would love to work at an award-winning orchard-based cidery, we'd love to hear from you.
The Job
The Culinary Coach serves as a trainer, mentor, and culinary resource for our Kitchen & Deli Associates. Working closely with the Deli Supervisor and reporting to management, this role focuses on team development, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
- HR: The Culinary Coach leads by example to build a positive team culture, and leads the training of Kitchen & Deli Associates. On the Deli Supervisor's days off, the Culinary Coach may act as Supervisor, assigning tasks to junior team members, monitoring stock, alerting management to inventory needs, and stepping in to help Associates as needed.
- Continuous Improvement: The Culinary Coach updates SOPs and training materials, monitors food quality, and implements cost saving measures where possible. This person also provides feedback to the Deli Supervisor on Sea Cider’s overall food program, which includes menus for:
- Daily Tastings,
- Deli food “to go”,
- Group bookings, and
- On-site markets and other large public events
- Financial Management: The Culinary Coach is expected to follow the food program budget and regularly review actuals with the Deli Supervisor and management.

About You
Qualifications
- Culinary diploma or degree (required)
- Food Safe certification (required)
- Serving It Right certification (required)
- First Aid certification (required)
- Minimum 10 years' experience in a culinary leadership role
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience developing training programs and coaching staff
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with standard workplace software
- Experience with recipe costing and inventory management software is an asset

- Positive, hands-on leadership style
- Passion for developing junior team members
- Commitment to teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement
- Interest in learning about cider
Availability
- Available to work three to four half-shifts per week (mornings or afternoons), aligned with the Deli Supervisor's days off and operational needs.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to routinely lift up to 15 kg
- Ability to work standing for extended periods
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
