Weed Control Supervisor
The Agassiz Weed Control District is seeking applications for the position of Weed Control Supervisor within the municipalities of Brokenhead and Lac du Bonnet and the Town’s of Beausejour and Lac du Bonnet.
Employment
Seasonal Position: April 1 – October 31 each year.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Board of the Agassiz Weed Control District, the Weed Control Supervisor will be responsible for the following duties:
· Enforce the Noxious Weed Act
· Larviciding
· Maintain weed control on municipal property including roadsides
· Daily operation of various spraying equipment
· Scouting for noxious weeds
· Mowing and other vegetation management
· Deal with public concerns and inquiries
· Initiate discussion of current events and programs within program parameters
· Develop and maintain successful working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders
· Monthly and yearly reporting
· Attend monthly board meetings
Qualifications
· Agricultural background would be an asset
· Knowledge of the Noxious Weed Act of Manitoba
· Must have or able to obtain the Pesticide Applicators License
· Experience in the use of sprayers, mowers, trucks, tractors and ATV’s safely
· Computer skills
· Knowledge of GPS technology
· Valid Driver’s license
· Self motivated, work with minimal supervision
