GN Systems Inc. is currently seeking experienced and customer-focused Security Alarm System & Access Control Technicians to join our growing team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of security alarm systems, access control systems, CCTV systems, and smart home solutions for residential and commercial customer across the GTA, Hamilton, and Niagara regions. Regular travel throughout these areas is required.
This position is ideal for a self-motivated technician who enjoys working independently, solving technical issues, and delivering exceptional customer service.
The selected candidate will install, diagnose, and maintain the alarm system (DSC/Honeywell Hardwire systems), smart home system, CCTV, and associated components, as well as be customer-focused, responsible, results orientated, and provide a positive customer experience every time. This position requires you to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays depending on business requirements.
Responsibilities
- Install, service, troubleshoot, and repair hardwired and wireless alarm systems.
- Install and maintain access control systems, card readers, electric strikes, magnetic locks, and door hardware.
- Install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot low-voltage cabling including Cat5e and Cat6.
- Install and configure CCTV and video surveillance systems.
- Program and commission security and automation systems.
- Diagnose wiring, communication, and equipment faults.
- Complete work orders, service reports, and required documentation accurately.
- Maintain vehicle stock, tools, and inventory.
- Provide professional customer service and end-user training.
- Follow company safety policies and industry best practices.
- Work safely on ladders and at heights when required.
Qualifications Required
- Minimum 2 years of experience installing and servicing alarm systems.
- Experience with DSC and Honeywell hardwired alarm systems.
- Experience with low-voltage cabling and structured wiring.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams and troubleshoot field issues.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Valid Ontario G Driver's Licence.
- Reliable transportation.
- Ability to travel throughout the GTA, Hamilton, and Niagara regions.
- Ability to lift equipment and work in physically demanding environments.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
Assets
- Experience with access control systems.
- Experience with CCTV and IP camera systems.
- Experience with smart home systems and automation platforms.
- First Aid Certification.
- Working at Heights / Fall Protection Training.
- Ladder Safety Training.
- WHMIS Certification.
- Knowledge of networking, routers, and IP-based devices.
- Familiarity with Android devices and mobile applications.

- White work van or pickup truck.
- Complete set of trade tools.
- 4' to 8' ladder.
- Valid contractor liability insurance.
- Current WSIB clearance certificate.
