Position Description
Fulger Transport Inc. is actively seeking to hire a new Reefer Mechanic to help maintain the company's refrigerated transportation fleet. The ideal candidate would bean experienced reefer technician certified by Thermo King or Carrier Transicold. This individual would be an autonomous self-starter with the ability to work independently.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair Thermo King and Carrier Transicold refrigeration units on trailers.
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections and scheduled reefer services.
- Repair and replace refrigeration, electrical, and mechanical components.
- Conduct system performance testing, temperature calibration, and operational checks.
- Use manufacturer diagnostic software and tools to identify faults and complete repairs.
- Service diesel engines, fuel systems, charging systems, and control modules associated with reefer units.
- Inspect and repair wiring, sensors, controllers, and electrical circuits.
- Ensure all refrigeration units comply with food safety and temperature control requirements.
- Complete work orders, maintenance records, and inspection reports accurately.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
- Respond to roadside breakdowns and emergency service calls as required.
- Communicate repair recommendations and equipment status to management and customers.
- Adhere to company safety policies and manufacturer service procedures.
- Assist with inventory management and ordering of reefer parts and supplies when needed.
- Stay current with Thermo King and Carrier service bulletins, training, and certification requirements.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a reefer mechanic or in a similar role within the transportation industry
- Certification with Thermo King or Carrier Transicold
- Strong mechanical knowledge of refrigeration systems and truck maintenance
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Good communication skills for team collaboration
- Knowledge of HVAC systems is a plus
- Ability to work independently and follow safety procedures
- Prior experience with plumbing or welding related to refrigeration units is advantageous
Pay: $40.00-$45.00 per hour
