The Board Director, Treasurer plays a vital leadership role within the board and is a voting position. This position involves providing accounting support by tracking expenses and disbursements, as well as strategic oversight on budgeting, risk management, and financial planning to support the organization’s mission and long-term sustainability. The Treasurer collaborates closely with other board members, the board chair, and the executive director to promote sound financial practices and transparency.
Responsibilities
- Develop and oversee the organization’s financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure accurate financial management.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections.
- Prepare and present monthly financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements to the board
- Lead budgeting processes, monitor financial performance against budgets, and recommend adjustments as needed.
- Conduct account reconciliation to maintain accurate financial records.
- Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and standards in all financial activities.
- Collaborate with external auditors during audits and ensure timely completion of audit processes.
- Support business development initiatives by providing financial insights and analysis for new opportunities.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, bookkeeping, and financial services.
- Experience in corporate finance, budgeting, cost management, and risk analysis.
- Proven leadership skills to collaborate with a team and influence organizational strategy.
- Expertise in account reconciliation and risk mitigation strategies.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail in financial reporting and compliance.
- Effective communication skills for presenting complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
