About the Opportunity
Our client is launching a brand-new, independent, premium-casual restaurant in the heart of Belleville’s river walk, with an anticipated opening in mid-to-late July 2026. With a dynamic interior and one of the city’s most inviting patios, the concept is rooted in creating memorable dining experiences within a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere. The menu will feature elevated comfort food, highlighting thoughtfully sourced, locally driven ingredients wherever possible.
The Role
We are seeking a visionary, hands-on Executive Chef to lead the culinary program from the ground up. This is a rare opportunity to shape a concept, build a team, and define a kitchen culture from day one. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while maintaining an uncompromising commitment to quality and consistency.
This is very much a working chef role—someone who leads from the line, sets the pace for service, and is actively involved in execution on a daily basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing culinary team grounded in collaboration and respect
- Oversee all kitchen operations, including menu development, execution, and service standards
- Design innovative, trend-aware, and cost-effective menus aligned with the restaurant’s concept (up to 6 seasonal changes yearly)
- Remain current with culinary trends and continuously evolve offerings to stay relevant and competitive
- Manage financial performance, including food and labor costs, budgeting, and forecasting
- Ensure excellence in food quality, presentation, and food safety standards
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, prioritizing premium and local sourcing
- Recruit, train, and mentor team members to support growth, retention, and long-term success
The Ideal Candidate
- Proven experience as an Executive Chef or senior culinary leader in premium casual or upscale dining
- A passionate, hands-on culinary professional who is present on the line and leads by example
- Up-to-date with current culinary trends, techniques, and guest expectations
- Strong business acumen with a track record in menu engineering, cost control, and operational efficiency
- Creative, with a global culinary perspective and a strong foundation in Italian cuisine
- A collaborative and thoughtful leader who motivates through respect and integrity
- Highly organized with excellent communication skills
- Dedicated to fostering a positive culture and delivering exceptional guest experiences
What’s Offered
- Competitive salary with performance-based incentives
- up to 4-weeks vacation
- A collaborative, forward-thinking environment that encourages creativity
- The opportunity to lead and shape a new restaurant opening from inception
