About Butter & Spice
Butter & Spice is an artisan bakery in the heart of Little Portugal, Toronto. Founded by a Michelin-trained chef with experience at Eleven Madison Park and Restaurant Story London, we make scratch-made cakes, brownies, cookies, and cuppa cakes that people come back for every week. We're a small, focused team that takes pride in everything that comes out of this kitchen and we're looking for someone who feels the same way.
The Role
You're the engine of our evening kitchen. As our Evening Baker, you'll own cake production for the week; baking, prepping, and setting the morning team up for success. You'll work closely with our kitchen lead and cross-train across multiple production stations so you become an essential part of how this kitchen runs.
This is a production role for someone who's serious about their craft, works independently, and shows up consistently.
What You'll Do
- Bake all cakes for the week to recipe and quality standards
- Carrot cake production
- Roll and proof cinnamon buns for service
- Pack Uber Eats orders
- Cross-train on brownie, cookie dough, and filling production
- Maintain a clean, organized workstation throughout your shift
- Set the morning team up with everything they need
What We're Looking For
- At least 2 years of experience in a commercial bakery or professional kitchen
- Comfortable working evenings independently: 2pm to 10pm
- Must be available all days of the week during the training period
- Reliable, consistent, and self-directed
- Able to follow recipes precisely and maintain quality standards under pressure
- A team player who takes ownership of their station
Nice to Have
- Experience baking cakes or layer cakes in a high-volume setting
- Familiarity with a small, fast-paced kitchen environment
The Details
- Hours: Tuesday–Saturday, 2pm–10pm
- Training will take place outside of the regular schedule. Full availability required during the training period
- Pay: $19/hr
- Location: 1420 Dundas St W, Little Portugal, Toronto
- Start date: As soon as possible
