Overview
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Drywall Taper to join our construction team. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in taping, mudding, and finishing drywall surfaces to a smooth, paint-ready standard. This role requires precision, efficiency, and the ability to work in both residential and commercial environments.
As a drywall taper, you will be responsible for sealing joints between drywall panels, applying coats of compound, and sanding surfaces to create clean, seamless finishes. You must be able to interpret blueprints, work safely on various job sites, and complete high-quality work under tight deadlines. A strong eye for detail and pride in craftsmanship are essential.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a drywall taper/finisher
- Knowledge of drywall installation and finishing techniques
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools related to the trade
- Physically fit and capable of standing, bending, lifting (50 lbs), and working on scaffolding or ladders
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Safety certifications (e.g., WHMIS, Fall Protection) considered an asset
Experience
- Proven experience in drywall finishing .
- Familiarity with caulking, construction painting, and general maintenance person skills is advantageous.
- Ability to read blueprints and understand project plans is essential.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Work Schedule:
- Full-time position – typically 35to 40 hours per week
- Standard workdays: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM (start/end times may vary by site)
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to meet deadlines or during peak project phases
- Overtime available during high-volume projects, compensated according to labor standards
- Site-to-site travel within Halifax and surrounding HRM areas

- Candidates unavailable for full-time or flexible work schedules, including occasional overtime or weekend shifts
- Those uncomfortable working both independently and as part of a team on fast-paced construction sites.
