We are seeking an experienced QC Welding Inspector / Field Inspector to support a major turnaround project. The successful candidate(s) will be responsible for inspecting piping and welding activities to ensure compliance with applicable codes, client specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements during turnaround execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform field inspections on piping fabrication, installation, and welding activities during the turnaround.
- Verify work complies with applicable codes, drawings, WPSs, and project specifications.
- Conduct visual weld inspections and coordinate NDE requirements as needed.
- Review and verify welding documentation, material traceability, and inspection records.
- Monitor contractor quality performance and identify non-conformance issues.
- Ensure hydrotest packages, turnover documentation, and QC records are completed accurately.
- Liaise with operations, maintenance, contractors, and project teams to resolve quality concerns.
- Maintain detailed inspection reports and daily documentation.
- Promote and adhere to all site safety procedures and turnaround protocols.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a QC Welding Inspector or Piping Inspector in refinery, petrochemical, or industrial turnaround environments.
- Strong knowledge of piping systems, welding procedures, and inspection practices.
- Familiarity with applicable industry codes and standards (ASME, API, CSA, etc.).
- Experience reviewing isometrics, P&IDs, and fabrication drawings.
- CWB Level 1 or 2, CSA W178 certification, or equivalent preferred.
- NDE coordination and quality documentation experience considered an asset.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work extended turnaround schedules in a fast-paced environment.
- Refinery, chemical plant, or petrochemical shutdown/turnaround experience an asset.
- Experience working with mechanical contractors and multi-discipline turnaround teams.
- Confined space and industrial safety training considered an asset.
Additional Information
This is a temporary turnaround assignment running from September through approximately end of October, with the potential for schedule adjustments based on project execution needs.
Pay: $40.00-$65.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
