Senior Audit & Cyber Security Specialist for a full-time, 6-month temporary contract in
Toronto, ON. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced IT audit and cyber security professional with expertise in IT governance, risk management, compliance, and information security who enjoys leading complex audit engagements and advising senior stakeholders on technology risk.
In this role, you will lead IT audits, assess technology risks, evaluate compliance with IT governance frameworks, and provide strategic recommendations to strengthen security, operational effectiveness, and regulatory compliance across enterprise environments.

Responsibilities

Plan, lead, and conduct complex IT audits, consulting engagements, and special investigations involving technology governance, systems, security, and business operations.

Assess compliance of IT systems and processes with IT policies, directives, standards, and governance frameworks.

Analyze audit findings and prepare concise, evidence-based reports with recommendations for senior and executive leadership.

Research emerging technologies, identify associated risks, and recommend appropriate security controls.

Assist with annual IT audit planning and contribute to audit strategy development.

Support the development and enhancement of IT policies, standards, governance frameworks, and process improvement initiatives.

Provide strategic advice on IT governance, risk management, and control frameworks across multiple business units.

Offer technical and project management guidance on major technology initiatives and system development projects.

Lead special engagements related to regulatory compliance and industry standards, including security and payment compliance.

Recommend cost-effective process improvements to strengthen IT and business operations.

Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders while promoting professional audit standards and ethical practices.

Collaborate with management to develop action plans addressing audit findings and continuous improvement opportunities.

Participate in cross-functional initiatives to better understand organizational priorities and emerging risks.

Review IT and business projects to identify project risks and provide governance recommendations.

Develop comprehensive audit plans, including scope, objectives, methodologies, resource requirements, and work plans.

Lead internal and external audit resources on integrated audit engagements and special projects.

Oversee external service providers to ensure quality and consistency of audit deliverables.

Facilitate enterprise risk assessment sessions and provide recommendations to improve governance and operational controls.

Perform quality assurance reviews for high-risk IT projects.

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and implement best practices, including Computer Assisted Auditing Techniques (CAATs).
Qualifications

Must be legally eligible to work and reside in Canada.

University degree in a related field or a professional designation such as CISA, CISSP, CIA, or equivalent.

Minimum four years of IT audit and cyber security experience.

Experience using Computer Assisted Auditing Techniques (CAATs) to evaluate systems, databases, and IT environments.

Strong knowledge of IT auditing standards, IT control frameworks, and risk assessment methodologies.

Experience evaluating compliance with IT governance policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.

Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, service management, business continuity, disaster recovery, and enterprise risk management.

Knowledge of emerging technologies, cloud environments, e-commerce, telecommunications, networking, and enterprise applications.

Experience implementing IT governance frameworks to align technology with business objectives.

Strong knowledge of information security principles, including confidentiality, integrity, availability, privacy, and infrastructure protection.

Understanding of information management practices, records management, e-discovery, and relevant legislation including FIPPA, PHIPA, PIPEDA, and the Archives and Recordkeeping Act.

Experience with IT risk management methodologies, project governance, and business transformation initiatives.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, presentation, and written communication skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and audit software such as IDEA, ACL, Sharp Decisions, or similar tools.
