TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Plan, organize, and direct the preparation and cooking activities of the vegetarian section within a high-volume Indian restaurant environment.
● Prepare and cook complete vegetarian meals and specialty dishes, including regional Indian curries, lentil-based preparations, paneer dishes, vegetable biryanis, and tandoor-roasted vegetarian items.
● Develop and execute daily mise en place plans to support efficient service during peak dining periods.
● Supervise and provide guidance to cooks and kitchen assistants assigned to the vegetarian section to maintain workflow and quality standards.
● Monitor portion control, seasoning balance, and presentation to ensure authenticity and consistency of vegetarian dishes.
● Direct the preparation of house-made sauces, spice blends, gravies, and marinades specific to vegetarian menu offerings.
● Coordinate with the Tandoor and Curry sections to ensure seamless timing and plating of multi-component dishes.
● Assist in refining vegetarian menu items and seasonal specials in collaboration with the Executive Chef.
● Oversee proper handling, storage, and rotation of fresh produce, legumes, dairy substitutes, and specialty ingredients used in vegetarian cuisine.
● Maintain cleanliness, organization, and operational standards within the vegetarian section to support uninterrupted service.
Prerequisites:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
Experience & Skills: 5 years or more in the relevant field or equivalent experience.
Language: English
Hourly Rate: $36.60 to $38.00 for 30 to 40 Hours per week
