The Workplace Safety & Security Coordinator, reporting directly to the Manager, Accessibility & Workplace Safety, plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth functioning of all Workplace Safety and Security related activities at Wawanesa. With a focus on prevention and adaptability, this position is integral to maintaining high standards of employee safety and building security across all Wawanesa’s sites.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive support to Facilities Operations, including managing and auditing access control through monthly review of access card data, CCTV footage, periodic spot checks on sites.
- Facilitating safety training programs for the Fire Warden and Persons Requiring Assistance Programs, including providing training, tracking to ensuring all persons have the required training and receive refresher training at appropriate intervals, and conducting fire drills in conjunction with landlords.
- Working in partnership with Facilities Vendors to ensure that top service is delivered. This includes property managers, on-site security, janitorial services, and card access system vendors.
- Assist the Manager, Accessibility & Workplace Safety with various administrative and operational tasks, ensuring consistent and accurate work across the Health & Safety portfolio.
- Conduct incident report review and investigation to find root causes and practical solutions to ensure incidents do not repeat and to protect the health and safety of all Wawanesa employees.
- Act as a resource for conducting inspections, audits, and attending safety committee meetings.
- Undertake additional special projects, contributing to the ongoing enhancement of workplace safety and security within Wawanesa facilities.
- Perform any other duties as directed.
- Completion of post-secondary education in Health & Safety.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Workplace Safety, demonstrating a broad skill set.
- Proficiency in computer operations, including familiarity with scanners and other office equipment, as well as advanced skills in MS Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Forms.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Including experience conducting training sessions.
- Meticulous attention to detail, coupled with strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment, showcasing outstanding communication skills.
Demonstrated capacity to adapt to changing environments and maintain performance stability under pressure or opposition.
