Field Service Technician – Commercial Bakery Equipment

Position Summary
M&H Bakery Equipment is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Field Service Technician to install, commission, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair commercial bakery equipment at customer sites across Canada and occasionally the United States.
The ideal candidate has strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, enjoys working independently, and is willing to travel frequently to support customer installations and emergency service calls.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, assemble, and commission commercial bakery equipment and complete production lines.
- Perform preventive maintenance and emergency repairs at customer facilities.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control system issues.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and technical manuals.
- Install and adjust mixers, dough dividers, rounders, moulders, sheeters, proofers, rack ovens, rotary ovens, tunnel ovens, conveyors, and automated production lines.
- Test equipment after installation and ensure proper operation and safety.
- Calibrate equipment and optimize machine performance.
- Provide operator training and basic maintenance instruction to customers.
- Complete detailed service reports and maintain accurate documentation.
- Coordinate with the technical support and engineering teams to resolve complex issues.
- Maintain a professional relationship with customers while representing M&H Bakery Equipment.
Technical Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience servicing industrial or commercial food processing equipment (bakery equipment preferred).
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with electrical systems (120V, 208V, 240V, 480V, and 600V is an asset).
- Ability to diagnose motors, gearboxes, bearings, chains, belts, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Experience reading electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
- Familiarity with PLC-controlled equipment is considered a strong asset.
- Experience with VFDs, sensors, safety circuits, and control panels is preferred.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools and standard hand and power tools.
- Strong understanding of workplace safety procedures.
Qualifications
- Mechanical, Electrical, Millwright, Industrial Maintenance, or Electromechanical Technician background preferred.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Valid passport and ability to travel internationally if required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
- Ability to work at customer sites, including supermarkets, industrial bakeries, and food manufacturing facilities.
- Ability to work flexible hours and occasional weekends when required.
Travel Requirements
This position requires frequent travel throughout Ontario and other Canadian provinces, with occasional travel to the United States.
The successful candidate must be willing to:
- Travel 60–80% of the time.
- Stay overnight for multi-day installation and service projects.
- Respond to urgent customer service calls when required.
- Travel by company vehicle or air depending on project location.
