We are looking for a reliable and hands-on Metal Door Prep & Inventory Technician to help manage our metal door inventory and prepare metal doors and jambs for customer orders.
The main responsibilities include pulling the correct doors from inventory, checking work orders, keeping the metal door area organized, and completing basic prep work on doors and jambs when needed. Some orders may require additional openings such as double lock holes, window cut-outs, or holes in metal jambs.
This position involves using common shop tools such as grinders, drills, cutters, files, and other hand and power tools. Welding experience is required, as some orders may involve basic welding, repair, or metal modification work.
Main Duties
- Pull metal doors according to work orders.
- Check door size, type, handing, insulation type, lock prep, and other order details.
- Keep the metal door inventory area clean and organized.
- Measure and mark doors and jambs for required prep work.
- Cut lock holes, double lock holes, window openings, and other required openings.
- Cut or prepare holes in metal jambs as needed.
- Use grinders, drills, cutters, files, and other shop tools safely.
- Perform basic welding, repair, or modification work when required.
- Clean, file, and finish cut edges.
- Check completed work to make sure it matches the order.
- Report damaged doors, low stock, missing materials, or inventory issues.
- Help move and handle metal doors and jambs safely.
- Assist with other shop or warehouse tasks as needed.
Requirements
- Welding experience is required.
- Experience using hand tools and power tools.
- Able to read and follow work orders.
- Comfortable measuring, marking, cutting, grinding, drilling, and filing metal.
- Good attention to detail.
- Reliable, organized, and willing to learn.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Able to work safely in a shop/warehouse environment.
- Experience with metal doors, metal frames, fabrication, warehouse work, or construction is an asset.
Work Environment
This position is based in a shop/warehouse environment and involves standing, bending, lifting, carrying, measuring, cutting, grinding, drilling, filing, welding, and handling metal doors and jambs. Assistance, equipment, or reasonable accommodation will be provided where required.
Workplace-specific training will be provided. The successful candidate must follow company safety procedures, wear required PPE, and use tools and equipment safely.
