EXPERIENCE
Drilling-rig excavator experience required
This is not a general earthworks position. Applicants must have previous experience operating an excavator around an active drilling rig and understand drilling-site workflow, communication, and safety requirements.
The Position
Double J Energy Solutions is hiring an experienced drill-site excavator operator to support active oil and gas drilling operations.
We are looking for a dependable operator who can safely handle pipe, manage drill cuttings, work closely with the rig crew, and take pride in keeping equipment and locations organized.
Able to work 12-hour day or night shifts in changing weather and site condition
Able to pass all required pre-employment and site-access testing.
What You'll Be Doing
· Operate a 16-20 ton tracked excavator on active oil and gas drilling locations, working near the rig, personnel, and heavy equipment.
· Handle and move drill pipe, tubulars, BHA, and rig equipment using pipe fork-grapple combinations, and pallet forks.
· Support drilling operations by mixing drill cuttings, loading trucks, and managing the movement of mud products, sawdust, equipment, and other site materials.
· Assist the rig crew during all phases of operations, including drilling, tripping, casing, and rig moves, following site workflow and direction.
· Maintain strict safety awareness in tight operating areas, including working around live traffic, personnel, and high-value equipment.
· Perform daily equipment inspections, report mechanical issues immediately, and keep the excavator and work area clean and organized.
Required Experience
· Minimum one year of direct excavator experience on active oil and gas drilling rigs.
· Proven experience handling drill pipes and tubulars with pipe grapples, forks, and related attachments.
· Strong understanding of drilling-site operations, chain of command, radio communication, and rig-crew workflow
Tickets and Equipment
· Current Standard First Aid with CPR/AED Level C, H2S Alive, and CSO certifications.
· Valid Class 5 driver's license with satisfactory driving.
· Reliable transportation suitable for travel to remote work locations.
· Have you own two-way radio for travel on controlled roads.
