Bowmont Animal Hospital is looking for a full-time Hospital Assistant to add to our growing team. We are a new 5000 sq foot facility in beautiful NW Calgary focusing on high quality general medicine. We are looking for someone to assist our RVTs and DVMs, as well as to support our front end staff as needed. Previous veterinary clinic experience would be beneficial. Knowledge of AVImark and multi-line phone systems an asset. Completion of a VTA program preferred.
Shifts would be Monday to Friday, with the occasional shift on Saturday. We offer uniform allowance, discounts on pet food and supplies, as well as pet healthcare for staff members
Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians in providing medical care to animals
- Handle and restrain animals during examinations and procedures
- Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian
- Collect and prepare laboratory samples for testing
- Assist with radiographs and other diagnostic imaging procedures
- Provide medical administrative support such as maintaining patient records and creating invoices
Requirements:
- Previous experience working in a veterinary hospital or clinic is preferred
- Strong knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
- Ability to handle animals with care and compassion
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and team members
- Detail-oriented with the ability to accurately record information and maintain patient records
