Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Assemble structural components onto WF beams, HSS Tubing, Channel, Angle, and plate.
- Follow blueprints to ensure exact dimensions and specifications are met.
- Produce clean welds.
- Provide notes to the welders if any uncommon welds are required.
- Ensure quality control.
- Fabricate and assemble structural steel components according to specifications.
- Perform welding and fitting tasks to join steel components accurately.
- Ensure welds meet quality standards and structural integrity requirements.
- Operate welding equipment and machinery safely and efficiently.
- Conduct inspections and quality checks on completed work.
- Collaborate with other tradespeople and construction team members.
- Strong understanding of welding techniques and metallurgy and always adhere to safety protocols and regulations.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding project progress and requirements.
Skills/Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in welding or metal fabrication preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in structural steel fitting, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to stand, crouch, and occasionally lift heavy materials.
- Certification in welding processes (MCAW, MIG) is required.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Experience in structural steel fabrication and welding.
- Experience with the use of overhead cranes
- Familiarity with welding equipment and machinery (e.g., hand-held grinders and other tools).
- Physical strength and dexterity for lifting and manipulating heavy steel components.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship.
Hours
This is a full time, permanent role located in Stoney Creek, Ontario
Day Shift: 6:30 am – 3:30 pm (Monday to Friday)
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $28.00-$32.00 per hour

- AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred)
Experience:
- Structural Steel Fitting/Welding: 5 years (required)
- Engineering Drawings and Blueprint reading/interpreting: 5 years (required)
- Overhead Crane: 5 years (preferred)
- Steel Fabrication and Welding: 5 years (preferred)
- reading number and measuring in feet/inches: 5 years (preferred)
- fitting terminologies (e.g. side vs. far side, etc.): 5 years (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- Certification in Welding Process (e.g. MCAW, MIG, etc.) (required)
