Job Summary
Kelly Santini is seeking a Controller to join our accounting team. This senior leadership role is responsible for the oversight, compliance, and day-to-day management of the firm’s accounting operations. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and Managing Partner, the CAO leads all core accounting functions, trust accounting, regulatory reporting, and financial statement preparation while ensuring the firm remains compliant with all applicable professional and government requirements.
Specific Duties of the Role
- Lead and oversee all core accounting operations, including accounts payable, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close.
- Supporting the CFO in preparation of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements.
- Lead the annual budget preparation process in partnership with the CFO and Managing Partner.
- Oversee all trust accounting transactions and ensure compliance with Law Society of Ontario trust accounting rules and reporting requirements.
- Lead and coordinate responses to Law Society of Ontario audits, spot checks, trust reviews, and related compliance requests.
- Ensure timely completion of all required filings and remittances with the Canada Revenue Agency, including HST/GST, and year-end reporting.
- Maintain and improve accounting controls, policies, and internal procedures.
- Manage year-end processes and coordinate with external accountants or auditors.
- Supervise, train, and support accounting team members.
Skills & Qualifications
- CPA designation (or equivalent)
- 4-5 years of progressive finance experience, including leadership or supervisory roles
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; Able to interact with staff, peers, and senior leadership professionally and effectively
- A solid understanding of accounting principles, controls, banking and financial implications
- Experience leading external audits and working with external accountants
- Business acumen and proficiency with technology
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational and analytical skills

Pay: $105,000.00-$140,000.00 per year
