The City of Delta is looking for an auxiliary for our Animal Health Technologist position. This is an auxiliary/casual opportunity with no guarantee of weekly hours. In addition, the Animal Health Technologist will be required to work non-standard hours including evenings and weekends.
The Animal Health Technologist will evaluate the health and well-being of animals in the facility; provide routine examinations and treatments; triage injuries and conditions; determine the need for veterinary consultations or referrals; and liaise with veterinarians to ensure that animals are receiving necessary care and nutrition. The incumbent will also serve as a resource to staff on matters related to animal health and well-being and recommend revised protocols.
The successful candidate will be organized, outgoing, and detail oriented.

A high school diploma supplemented by completion of a 2 year diploma program in animal health technology, plus related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience

Registered and in good standing with the BC Veterinary Technologists Association

Experience providing care to animals including administering tests, medications and treatments

Be legally entitled to work in Canada

Have a valid Class 5 driver’s licence and use of you own personal vehicle is required

The City of Delta provides a competitive salary of $33.92 - $39.85 per hour (commensurate with experience) plus 12% in lieu of vacation leave, benefits, and statutory holidays.
