West Oakville Preschool Centre is a licensed, non-profit child care centre located in Oakville offering care for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. We are currently seeking candidates for the following position:
Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) - Full Time, permanent
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing an engaging, safe and developmentally appropriate program in accordance with all relevant legislation.
Responsibilities:
- Planning and implementation of play & inquiry based curriculum
- Maintaining a clean, well-organized, inviting, healthy, safe, sanitary, diverse & inclusive environment
- Ensuring individual needs of each child is met through positive interactions, nutrition, and wellness
- Creating a sense of Belonging, Well-Being, Engagement and Expression within the program
- Observing and documenting children’s activity and development through various means
- Building relationships with families and supporting their individual needs
- Completing daily administrative tasks (attendance, portfolios, photo documentation, cleaning & disinfecting checklists, playground safety checklists, etc.)
- Acting accordingly in emergency situations, following applicable policy and procedures
- Assisting children with their daily hygiene needs
- Supervising children at all times and maintaining ratios accordingly
- Conducting self as a positive role model for children and co-workers
- Participating regularly in professional development activity
- Working collaboratively with professional partners and families to develop and employ goals, strategies and approaches for children with additional support needs
- Reviewing and recording pertinent information and messages in the Daily Log Book
- Attending and actively contributing to staff meetings and other networking opportunities
- Participating in Quality First program to continuously raise the level of quality in the centre
Qualifications: * ECE diploma from a post-secondary institution
- Current Valid Police Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
- Current valid Standard First Aid and Infant/Child CPR (Level C)
- Member in good standing with the College of ECEs
- Up-to-date immunization, following Public Health recommended immunization schedule
- Ability to work between the hours of 7:00 am and 6:30 pm
