Founded in 1970, Steele Hotels is an independent hotel operator based out of Newfoundland and Labrador Canada. With origins in Gander, NL the company has grown to include locations in St. John's, NL, Corner Brook, NL, and Fredericton, NB.
Steele Hotels is looking to add a full-time Overnight Valet to join our JAG Hotel team in St. John’s, NL. As Overnight Valet, you’ll be responsible for delivering exceptional customer service, ensuring guests feel welcomed and that their vehicles are handled with care and professionalism. You’ll play a key role in creating a smooth, memorable experience from guest arrival to departure. This role requires overnight availability.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Welcome guests warmly and offer valet services
- Drive guest vehicles to designated parking areas, ensuring proper handling and security
- Assisting with loading and unloading guests' luggage from guest vehicles
- Promptly retrieve guests' vehicles when requested
- Monitor parking lot for any unauthorized vehicles or suspicious activity
- Ensure the security of all parked vehicles, following hotel safety protocols
- Maintain a clean and organized parking area and lobby, keeping the valet area clean, organized, and free of obstacles
- Demonstrate a professional and positive presentation to guests and colleagues, and be well groomed
- Perform other duties, as assigned
Qualifications, Skills & Attributes:
- Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in customer service, and/or a similar role
- A valid Class 5 Driver's License, with no prior traffic offenses
- Minimum of 5 years of verifiable driving experience with a license including 1 year in Canada
- Provide a clear drivers abstract
- Provide a clear Criminal Record Screening Certificate
- Ability to drive manual shift vehicles is considered an asset
- Familiarity with safety and security procedures
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to work well with guests and the public
- Ability to handle difficult situations with patience and professionalism
- Capacity to stand for long periods of time and work in various weather conditions
- Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work overnights, as well as weekends and holidays
