Ocean Contractors Limited has been proudly serving Nova Scotia since 1974, delivering quality asphalt, ready-mix concrete, and civil construction projects. We are currently seeking an Experienced Excavator Operator to join our growing team.

Position Summary
The successful candidate will be responsible for operating excavators on a variety of road construction and civil infrastructure projects throughout Nova Scotia. This position requires a skilled operator who is experienced working around underground utilities and understands the importance of safety, precision, and teamwork.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience operating excavators in road construction or heavy civil construction.
- Proven experience working safely around underground utilities, including water, sewer, storm, electrical, and communications infrastructure.
- Ability to excavate to grade while maintaining production and accuracy.
- Experience with trenching, grading, ditching, culvert installation, and site preparation.
- Strong understanding of utility locating practices and safe excavation procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and grade stakes is considered an asset.
- Commitment to workplace safety and company policies.
- Ability to perform daily equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance.
- Valid driver's license (Class 3 or higher is considered an asset).
- Reliable, dependable, and able to work well as part of a construction crew.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate excavators on road construction and civil projects.
- Perform excavation around existing underground utilities without causing damage.
- Work closely with supervisors, survey crews, and ground personnel.
- Complete pre-trip inspections and maintain equipment in clean, safe operating condition.
- Follow all Occupational Health & Safety regulations and company procedures.
- Assist with other construction duties when required.
