Position Summary
Responsible to maintain the facility and dockside as it relates to general repairs and carry out all duties as directed by the Operations and/or Maintenance Supervisor. This position is also responsible to prepare the facility for events as per the instructions from the Operations and/or Maintenance Supervisor in consultation with the Events Coordinator.
Responsibilities:
- Required to work evening, weekends, and flexible schedules
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and prioritize assigned tasks
- Authorized (or willing to be trained) and has ability to operate heavy duty machinery such as, forklift, scissor lift
- At times will be required to lift heavy furniture and fixtures
- Possession of, or willingness to acquire, a Security Training Certificate according to Transport Canada regulations
- Required to carry a radio during their shift for proper communications to the supervisor and fellow staff
- Conduct themselves in a friendly, professional, and helpful manner while working with the public
- Maintain the facility in a standard acceptable to the supervisor and management
- Utilize general skills in order to trouble shoot on possible deficiencies with the air & heating systems in the facility during events
- Will require an understanding of Fire and Safety Awareness and Alertness
- Will be required to have knowledge of security procedures
- Must have an ability to recognize, report and prevent safety hazards with an understanding and awareness of Health & Safety with good judgement to apply when needed
- Must have the ability to interact with event client and with the public in a professional and courteous manner
- Must satisfactorily complete maintenance duties as assigned by the Operations and/or Maintenance Supervisor
- Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned by the Operations and/or Maintenance Supervisor
Experience:
- Minimum 1–3 years of experience in facility maintenance, building operations, event setup, custodial services, or a related field
- Experience working in a public-facing environment with strong customer service and communication skills
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety practices, hazard recognition, and safe work procedures is considered an asset
- Experience with security procedures and emergency/fire safety awareness is considered an asset
Pay: $18.15 per hour
