About the Opportunity
We are looking for a motivated, professional and enthusiastic student to join our team through a formally approved co-op, practicum or work-placement program.
This placement provides an excellent opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience in front-desk operations, customer service, clerical administration and general office organization. The successful student will work in a professional and collaborative environment while receiving training, supervision and constructive feedback.
This is an unpaid educational placement and is available only to students whose college, university, secondary school, career college or other recognized educational institution has approved or can approve the placement.
Placement Responsibilities
Under the training, guidance and supervision of an assigned team member, the student may assist with:
- Greeting visitors and directing them to the appropriate team member
- Answering, transferring and directing incoming telephone calls
- Taking accurate messages and responding to general inquiries
- Scheduling and confirming appointments
- Scanning, photocopying, printing and organizing documents
- Completing basic data-entry assignments
- Maintaining organized electronic and physical filing systems
- Sorting incoming mail and preparing outgoing mail or courier packages
- Preparing routine letters, forms and administrative documents
- Maintaining a clean, organized and professional reception area
- Monitoring and organizing general office supplies
- Assisting team members with clerical and office-organization projects
- Following workplace confidentiality, privacy and document-handling procedures
- Performing other supervised clerical duties related to the student’s learning objectives
The student will not be responsible for independently making financial, human-resources, legal or business decisions and will not be expected to supervise employees.

Qualifications
The ideal applicant will:
- Be enrolled in an academic program that includes an approved co-op, practicum or work-placement component
- Be eligible to complete an unpaid placement through their educational institution
- Be professional, reliable and willing to learn
- Have effective verbal and written communication skills
- Be comfortable greeting visitors and answering telephone calls
- Have basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
- Have strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Be able to follow instructions and manage assigned tasks responsibly
- Be able to maintain confidentiality when handling office information
- Demonstrate a positive attitude and an ability to work collaboratively
Previous office or Canadian work experience is not required. Training and supervision will be provided.
Placement Requirements
Before beginning the placement, the selected student must provide:
- Confirmation of enrolment in an eligible educational program
- Approval from their educational institution to complete the placement
- The name and contact information of their co-op or placement coordinator
- Any required placement agreement, learning plan or evaluation forms
- Any required insurance or workplace-coverage documentation
Possibility of Future Employment
Successful completion of the placement does not guarantee employment.
However, a student who demonstrates strong performance, professionalism and reliability may be considered for a future paid employment opportunity if a suitable vacancy becomes available. Any future employment would be subject to a separate recruitment, selection and employment process.
