Lead Hand Finishing Carpenter
Summary
The Lead Hand Finishing Carpenter assumes responsibility for their team of staff completing general carpentry duties on modular units in our modular manufacturing plant. They will ensure work tasks are performed safely in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety Legislation and company policies and that work is performed with a high level of quality and timeliness. They will work using safe work practices, always being aware of personal and client safety. The Finishing Carpenter will be required to demonstrate written and verbal communication through the creation of work documents, and through providing explanations and training to others on the safe use of related equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Follow scope of work unless direct otherwise by the Foreman
- Lead crew of skilled labourers and carpenters in Interior Finishing Department
- Installation of exterior & interior doors
- Interior & exterior framing
- Custom millwork/cabinetry
- Installation of cabinets & countertops
- Installation of baseboards, casings, and trim
- Minor roofing
- Shelving
- Drywall
- Ensure all safety codes are followed and proper safety attire is always worn.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Previous Carpenter experience
- Previous leadership experience
- Journeyman Certification (preferred)
- A minimum of 5+ years construction & renovation experience
- Valid Fall protection, CSTS-0.9/20, WHMIS 2015, and Standard First Aid an asset
- Ability to take direction and follow through on instructions
- General construction safety knowledge
- Committed dedication to safety; reflected in practice and experience
- Strong focus on customer satisfaction
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently in a demanding environment
- A team player with strong people skills
Physical Requirements
- Stand or walk for long periods of time
- Ability to stand, crouch, and kneel for long periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 25kg
- Climbing stairs/ladders regularly
- Exposure to hazards such as heights, power tools, slips, falls, falling objects, and sharp hand tools
