The Opportunity:
We are recruiting for a REGISTERED PRACTICAL NURSE (Specialized Outreach Services)
- This is a contract full-time position until September 3, 2027 to fill an existing vacancy (35 hours per week Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm) based at 9 Wellington St. Cambridge.
Within the scope of the RPN practice, the core responsibilities are to provide primary care functions, including addictions and mental health supports to people who are homeless or street involved and who experience mental health and/or addictions issues as part of an integrated mobile regional team. This position will provide psychiatric nursing care, mental health assessment, consultation and interventions services for adults on an assertive outreach basis. This position will manage a caseload and will also provide education regarding mental health, overall physical health and wellness. This role may involve travel to other agency sites to provide comprehensive nursing support to other programs/services when needed. This position reports to the Manager, Adult Intensive Services.
Qualifications:
- Degree/Diploma from an approved Registered Practical Nursing (RPN) Program
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario and eligibility to practice as a Registered Practical Nurse in Ontario
- 3 to 5 years of related experience in providing community-based mental health services
- Thorough knowledge of psychiatric nursing and medications
- Well-developed assessment and intervention skills
- Good organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated understanding and sensitivity to social and cultural diversity
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and multi-disciplinary setting
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, Outlook and various database software
- A valid driver’s license, vehicle and insurance, as travel is required

CLASSIFICATION AND RATE OF PAY: Level 5 (OPSEU) - $33.07 to $40.30 per hour
