Duties
- Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions in math and science subjects, including algebra, geometry, biology, chemistry, physics, and computer science.
- Assess students’ individual learning needs and develop customized lesson plans that align with their curriculum and learning goals.
- Use effective teaching strategies to clarify difficult concepts, encourage active participation, and promote problem-solving skills.
- Track student progress regularly and adjust tutoring approaches to maximize understanding and retention.
- Incorporate technology and computer skills into lessons to enhance engagement and facilitate interactive learning experiences.
- Support students with special education needs by adapting methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and challenges.
- Maintain a positive, encouraging attitude that motivates students to stay engaged and confident in their abilities.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children or adolescents in an educational or tutoring setting.
- Strong knowledge of math, science, and computer science topics at various levels of education.
- Proven tutoring or teaching experience that demonstrates the ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to connect with students of different backgrounds and learning styles.
- Familiarity with classroom environments and educational tools, including computer software relevant to STEM subjects.
- Knowledge of special education practices is a plus for supporting diverse learners.
- Passion for education, patience, adaptability, and a proactive approach to student success.
