Sky Building Restoration Inc. is seeking a skilled and dependable Restoration & Renovation Technician to perform emergency restoration, environmental remediation, demolition, and renovation work on residential, commercial, and industrial projects. The successful candidate will assist with mitigation services related to water, fire, mould, and environmental damage while also contributing to reconstruction and renovation activities following restoration work.
This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, the ability to work in fast-paced environments, and a commitment to safety, quality, and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
1. Damage Assessment
- Inspect residential, commercial, and industrial properties to assess the extent of damage and determine required restoration and reconstruction work.
- Document site conditions and findings through photos, notes, sketches, and measurements.
- Assist supervisors and project managers with evaluating restoration and renovation requirements.
2. Mitigation & Restoration Services
- Perform water extraction, structural drying, dehumidification, and moisture monitoring to mitigate water damage.
- Conduct fire and smoke damage restoration, including cleaning, deodorizing, and debris removal.
- Perform mould remediation and environmental cleaning procedures to prevent contamination and further growth.
- Handle contents cleaning, packing, inventory, restoration, and disposal of personal belongings and furnishings where required.
- Assist with asbestos abatement and hazardous material handling procedures in accordance with regulations and company protocols.
3. Material Removal & Demolition
- Remove damaged building materials including drywall, insulation, flooring, ceilings, cabinetry, and other affected materials.
- Perform controlled demolition activities safely and efficiently in preparation for restoration or reconstruction work.
- Dispose of materials and debris in accordance with environmental and safety regulations.
4. Renovation & Construction Duties
- Perform a variety of renovation and reconstruction tasks related to restoration projects, including:
- Drywall installation and finishing
- Rough and finish carpentry
- Framing
- Baseboard and trim installation
- Flooring installation and repairs
- Cabinet installation
- Painting and plastering
- Taping and sanding
- Backsplash installation
- Minor metal work
- General repairs and finishing work
- Assist with other construction and restoration-related duties as assigned.
5. Cleaning & Sanitizing
- Clean and sanitize affected areas using specialized restoration equipment, products, and techniques.
- Apply antimicrobial and disinfecting treatments to prevent mould, bacteria, and contamination.
- Ensure job sites are clean, organized, and safe throughout all stages of work.
6. Equipment Operation & Maintenance
- Operate restoration and construction equipment including air movers, dehumidifiers, HEPA vacuums, extractors, demolition tools, and other specialized equipment.
- Maintain, clean, and inspect tools and equipment regularly to ensure proper operation and safety.
- Report equipment issues or maintenance requirements promptly.
7. Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to all company safety policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Properly utilize personal protective equipment (PPE), containment systems, and safe work procedures.
- Follow all applicable health and safety regulations related to restoration, demolition, environmental remediation, and construction activities.
- Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and ongoing training programs.
8. Reporting & Team Collaboration
- Maintain accurate daily logs, work records, and progress updates as required.
- Work closely with project managers, supervisors, technicians, subcontractors, and other team members to ensure efficient project completion.
- Communicate professionally with clients, occupants, and site representatives when required.
- Participate in training and remain current with industry standards, restoration techniques, and best practices.
9. Other Related Duties
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned to support company operations and project success.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience in restoration, construction, renovation, demolition, or related trades preferred.
- Knowledge of water damage restoration, mould remediation, fire restoration, and renovation practices considered an asset.
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and restoration equipment safely and effectively.
- Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, climbing, bending, and working in confined spaces.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver’s license considered an asset.

- Asbestos and mould remediation certifications considered an asset.
- First Aid/CPR certification considered an asset.
- Working at Heights certification considered an asset.

Pay: $20.00-$35.00 per hour
