Mohawk College is experiencing significant growth in the School of Nursing and Caring Professions (NCP). The Associate Dean, Nursing and Research will provide academic and administrative leadership to ensure innovative, high-quality education that prepares graduates for success in the ever-evolving healthcare industry. This role will collaborate with faculty, students, and healthcare partners to advance the college's mission and elevate its care professions and nursing programs.
This position will be responsible for overseeing the following programs, initiatives, and academic partners within the School of NCP, including but not limited to:

Some of the programs offered have multiple intakes and are delivered at multiple campuses.
Academic Leadership & Program Development
-
Provide strategic leadership in the development, delivery and continuous improvement of research and nursing programs including Practical Nursing, RPN to BScN, and BScN (in collaboration with McMaster University).

Ensure all programs meet accreditation standards and regulatory requirements set by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) and other governing bodies.

Lead curriculum innovation, incorporating emerging trends and best practices in caring professions and nursing education and healthcare delivery.

Foster a collaborative, inclusive learning environment that promotes academic excellence and student success.
Team Leadership & Faculty Development

Provide leadership and direction to part-time, partial load, and full-time faculty, as well as administrative support staff, fostering a cohesive and collaborative team environment.

Ensure effective communication, equitable workload distribution, and professional development opportunities, while guiding the team to achieve both academic and operational goals.

Lead faculty and support staff recruitment, onboarding, and evaluation processes to ensure a high level of team effectiveness.

Mentor and support faculty and staff in their ongoing development and curriculum delivery.
Student Success & Supports

Champion student success by fostering a supportive academic environment and addressing student needs.

Oversee academic advising, student retention strategies, and program progression, ensuring students meet program requirements.

Lead initiatives to support diverse student populations, ensuring equity and inclusiveness in education.
Partnerships & External Relations
-
Build and maintain strong relationships with clinical partners, healthcare providers, and community partners to enhance learning opportunities for students.

Secure clinical placements, internships, and other experiential learning opportunities in collaboration with industry partners.

Represent Mohawk College at external events, conferences, and within professional networks to strengthen the reputation of the nursing programs.
Strategic Planning & Quality Assurance

Collaborate with the Dean to align nursing programs with the college’s strategic goals and the needs of the healthcare industry.

Collaborate with the Dean on program reviews and accreditation processes to maintain high standards and compliance with provincial and national guidelines.

Utilize data and feedback to drive continuous improvement in program quality, student outcomes, and operational efficiency.
Operational & Budgetary Oversight

Manage the portfolio’s operational budget, ensuring the effective allocation of resources to support program delivery and growth.

Oversee scheduling, faculty assignments, and the procurement of equipment and supplies to meet program needs.

Ensure compliance with college policies and procedures in all administrative and operational functions.
Change Management & Innovation

Lead initiatives that support the growth and modernization of nursing education, including the integration of simulation technologies and digital learning tools.

Drive transformational change by implementing new teaching methodologies and innovative program delivery models.

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to manage change processes that enhance the nursing programs’ overall effectiveness.

A degree in Nursing or related field and current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Ontario are required. (A PhD or enrollment in a PhD program are considered an asset)

Several years of progressive administrative and/or leadership experience, preferably in the post-secondary education or healthcare sectors.

Experience as a Program Coordinator and/or full-time faculty member is considered an asset.

Involvement in curriculum and partnership development.

Strong follow-through skills, with a highly organized approach to managing multiple programs and initiatives.

Proven experience in mentoring teams and driving a high-performance, healthy culture within a complex environment.

Demonstrated emotional intelligence, with a collaborative leadership style that promotes inclusivity and teamwork.

Familiarity with regulatory standards, quality assurance processes, and trends in nursing and healthcare.

Demonstrated ability to deliver strategic initiatives with a focus on continuous improvement.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in unionized and multi-stakeholder settings.

Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.

The ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse students, employees, and communities.
