Senior Financial Planner and Analyst
Location: Montreal, QC (Hybrid – 2 days in office)

About the Opportunity
A well-established and growing Canadian organization is seeking a strategic and hands-on Senior FP&A to join its senior leadership team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead both the Accounting and Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) functions while helping shape the future financial direction of a successful and evolving business.
The successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day financial operations of the organization and several related entities, while driving process improvements, automation initiatives, and the implementation of a new accounting system. This individual will also play a key role in building and enhancing the FP&A function, creating meaningful reporting, developing KPIs, and providing financial insights that support strategic decision-making.
This role is ideal for an experienced finance leader who enjoys building scalable processes, improving operational efficiency, and partnering closely with senior executives to drive business performance.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Lead and mentor a finance team responsible for accounting operations and financial reporting.
- Oversee the timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure financial information is reliable, complete, and aligned with applicable accounting standards.
- Manage the accounting activities of multiple entities within the organization.
Process Improvement & Operational Excellence
- Identify opportunities to streamline, automate, and improve financial processes and systems.
- Lead the evaluation, selection, and implementation of a new accounting platform.
- Enhance reporting capabilities and improve overall finance department efficiency and scalability.
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Develop and lead the FP&A function.
- Partner with department leaders to identify revenue and cost drivers.
- Establish meaningful KPIs and performance metrics.
- Design and implement standardized reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and analytical tools.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support key business decisions.
Cash Flow Management
- Monitor and optimize cash flow to support operational requirements and strategic initiatives.
- Ensure appropriate funding and liquidity management across the organization.
Compliance & Internal Controls
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and mitigate risk.
Cost Management
- Analyze operating expenses and identify opportunities to improve financial performance.
- Support business leaders in achieving cost efficiency objectives.
Audit & Financial Governance
- Coordinate external audits and other financial reviews.
- Ensure accurate, transparent, and well-documented financial reporting practices.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including senior-level leadership roles such as Controller, FP&A Manager, Finance Director, or equivalent.
- At least 2 years of experience in a Controller capacity.
- At least 2 years of FP&A experience or demonstrated responsibility for leading FP&A activities.
- Experience working across multiple industries or business environments is considered a strong asset.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Proven ability to influence executives, business owners, and senior stakeholders.
- Comfortable operating as both a strategic advisor and hands-on contributor.
- Deep understanding of accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and performance management.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Strong experience with ERP systems and accounting software.

This position reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer and offers significant visibility, influence, and growth potential within a dynamic and evolving organization.
