***this position is located out of Guelph, Ontario. You must live within a 20-30 minute drive to be considered for this role***
We're looking for the person who becomes the first friendly voice people hear when they call Blais Electric — and the calm hand that keeps our days running smoothly behind the scenes.
If you're the kind of person who genuinely lights up talking to people, and you can have five things coming at you at once while still making each person feel like they're the only one — keep reading. This might be your role.
A little honesty before you apply
This is a busy seat. The phone rings, texts come in, an electrician needs an answer, and a customer wants to book, often all at the same time. If that sounds stressful, this probably isn't the fit.
But if you're someone who actually enjoys that kind of day, who feels good bringing order to a little chaos and taking care of people along the way, you're exactly who we're hoping to meet.
What you'll be doing
- Answering the phone with warmth — and actually enjoying it. You're the first impression of Blais Electric.
- Booking service calls and helping homeowners figure out what they need.
- Following up on open estimates and quotes — gently turning “maybes” into booked work.
- Building and running the daily schedule, so the right electrician gets to the right home at the right time.
- Keeping everyone in the loop — confirmations, text reminders, follow-ups.
- Being the calm, organized centre of a busy operation — from the comfort of your own home.
- Other administrative tasks, such as pulling permits and coordinating utilities.
And don't worry — you don't need to know anything about electricity. You'll have a playbook and a whole team behind you. You're never expected to wing the technical electrical stuff; you'll always know who to hand it to.
Who you are
- You genuinely care about people. You're warm and kind, and you can put someone at ease within the first ten seconds of a call.
- You're comfortable with a lot coming at you at once. A full inbox, a ringing phone, and three people needing you doesn't rattle you — you keep it calm, organized, and moving.
- You're seriously organized. You're the one who writes it down, follows up, and never lets something slip through the cracks.
- You're a natural communicator. Clear, friendly, and jargon-free — people always feel taken care of after talking to you.
- You're comfortable with tech. New software doesn't faze you — you pick things up quickly and like having good tools to work with.
- You take pride in making someone's day easier. The small stuff matters to you, because you know it matters to them.
- You love finding a better way. When you spot a clunky process, you take the initiative to fix it — not just live with it.
- You bring a "yes, and" attitude — honestly, the one that matters to us most. You're a genuine team player, open to feedback, and your instinct is to find a way, not a reason it won't work.
Why you'll love working here
Over a decade ago, Patrick and Ami started Blais Electric from their kitchen table with one stubborn belief: people and profit need to be in balance. We've spent eleven years building a company where our team is home for dinner, genuinely cared for, and proud of the work they do. Here's what that looks like day to day:
- A supportive, low-drama, truly toxic-free culture — and we mean it.
- Real work-life balance: Monday to Friday, no weekends, and your evenings are your own.
- A work-from-home role — skip the commute and work from your own space.
- Organized, paperless systems and modern software, so you have the tools to do great work.
- Three weeks of paid vacation to start — plus 7 no-questions-asked personal days.
- Health, dental, and vision benefits after 3 months.
- A phone and internet stipend.
- Employee assistance program, life and disability coverage, and a phone stipend.
- As we grow, this role can grow with you.
- A team that feels like family, in a community we love being part of.
- A real chance to help shape how our growing company takes care of people.
What we're looking for
- Genuine warmth and a real love of helping people.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to keep a busy day calm.
- Great communication — friendly, clear, and professional.
- Comfort with computers and software (we'll teach you our systems).
- Reliability, follow-through, and attention to detail.
- Customer service, reception, dispatch, or scheduling experience is a bonus — but the right heart and head for it matter most.
How to apply
Send us your resume and a cover letter telling us a little about yourself — who you are, why this role appeals to you, what makes you a strong candidate outlining both hard and soft skills and why you'd like to be part of Blais Electric. Experience in customer service, admin, scheduling, or dispatch is a real plus — but if you're warm, organized, and a quick study, don't count yourself out.
A cover letter is required. Applications without one won't be considered.
We strongly encourage women and underrepresented individuals to apply.
If you're warm, organized, and you genuinely love taking care of people, we'd love to meet you.
