Working with the Town of Newmarket’s Recreation and Culture Team, means the opportunity to make a difference and connect with your community! Working in Recreation means being apart of something special, gaining valuable work experience and learning new skills. We are looking for dedicated individuals who enjoy working with others with a passion to deliver high quality programs, events and services. The Successful Candidate Will:
1. Lead programs such as: Babysitting Training, Home Alone Training, Counsellor in Training, and Leader in Training courses.
2. Deliver course content in an engaging and enthusiastic manner, while meeting various learning styles.
3. Ensure accurate attendance is taken at each class, and all paperwork is completed and returned to Recreation Programmer after final session for documentation.
4. Meet with the Recreation Programmer to discuss concerns regarding the program, facility or participants, and any updates to course content.
5. Work with Programmer and Youth Centre staff on-site to ensure proper setup of course room prior to the beginning of their course.

1. One to two years’ experience instructing children and/or youth.
2. Post-secondary education in related discipline (such as Recreation and Leisure, Concurrent Education, etc.) or equivalent combination of education and experience
3. Excellent customer service, communication, leadership, and organizational skills and sensitivity to interact with a diversity of patrons, parents, and staff in a courteous and efficient manner.
4. Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification required.
5. Current High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development certification required.
6. Availability/flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
7. Due to the nature of the contacts of this position a Police Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the Town is required.
Please Note: Certifications are not required at time of application but must be obtained prior to job commencement. The Town of Newmarket may offer opportunities for certification.
Disclaimer: Candidates whose Standard First Aid certification expires after June 22, 2026 must renew their certification through a WSIB-approved provider and obtain the new Intermediate First Aid with CPR-C certification at candidates own cost.
