Job Overview:
- Seeking a dedicated elementary teacher or tutor for a position as a full-time private homeschool educator in Calgary, Alberta. This rewarding role involves providing personalized, high-quality education to two young students in grades 1 and 4. The successful candidate will create engaging, tailored and collaborative lesson plans aiming to foster a love of learning and to support each child's individual growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver comprehensive curriculum in core subjects (language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, French/second language if applicable, arts, and physical education), aligned with Alberta Education standards.
- Differentiate instruction to suit the unique needs, learning styles, and paces of each student.
- Regularly assess progress, provide constructive feedback, and adapt strategies accordingly.
- Incorporate hands-on activities, projects, and diverse resources to make learning engaging and effective.
- Maintain a structured yet flexible daily homeschool schedule in a supportive home setting.
- Communicate transparently and collaboratively with parents on progress, curriculum decisions, and any needs.
- Promote positive values, independence, creativity, and a growth mindset in daily interactions.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Valid Alberta teaching certificate or provincial equivalent.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Education from a post-secondary institution,
- Experience in elementary education and Montessori learning is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of Alberta curriculum requirements.
- Strong knowledge of child development and differentiated/inquiry-based instruction.
- Genuine passion for homeschooling, personalized learning, and forming meaningful student relationships.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable, patient, creative, and enthusiastic about close family collaboration.
- Driver's License, personal vehicle, and clean driving record.
- Clear criminal record check
- Up-to-date vaccinations, including current flu shot and COVID-19, per family health and safety policies.
