We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our Finance team and play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records while supporting the company's continued growth.
Position Summary
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for supporting the month-end and year-end close process, preparing financial reports, performing reconciliations, and ensuring the accuracy of accounting records. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with leadership, contribute to process improvements, and gain valuable exposure across various accounting functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support month-end and year-end close activities.
- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Analyze financial data and provide recommendations to management.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions as required.
- Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies.
- Prepare reports and perform ad hoc financial analysis as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of progressive accounting experience.
- CPA designation or actively pursuing CPA is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian GAAP and financial reporting principles.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience using accounting software or ERP systems such as QuickBooks, ADP, or similar platforms.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 per year
