Overview
We are seeking a versatile Machining & Fabrication Technician to support a wide range of shop and field activities. This is a hands-on, flexible role suited to someone who enjoys variety: machining one day, fabricating the next, and supporting on-site service and installations as required. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, proficient in reading drawings, and capable of working independently while maintaining high quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform manual machining operations including shaft work, keyways, drilling, tapping, and general lathe/mill work.
- Fabricate components using welding, cutting, bending, and basic fitting techniques.
- Operate press brake and shear to form and cut material as required.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, sketches, and specifications.
- Assist with assembly of mechanical equipment such as conveyors and industrial machinery.
- Support on-site service work, repairs, and installations at customer facilities.
- Inspect parts for quality, accuracy, and fit; maintain tolerances as specified.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Participate in continuous improvement and follow established procedures and checklists.
Required Skills & Experience
- Experience with manual machining (lathe and mill), including shafts and keyways turning general diameters.
- Strong ability to read and understand mechanical drawings.
- Experience with fabrication and welding (general welding experience required Mig welding).
- Working knowledge of press brake and/or shear operations.
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort using hand and power tools.
- Willingness and ability to perform on-site service work when required.
- Strong attention to detail and quality.
- Forklift or equipment operation experience
Preferred / Asset Skills
- Experience in industrial equipment, conveyors, balers or millwright-style work.
- Forklift or equipment operation experience.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices.
