Independent Frozen DSD Delivery Contractor – Frozen Products (Metro Halifax, NS)
We are seeking an experienced independent contractor to provide direct store delivery (DSD) of frozen products to retail locations in the Metro Halifax area, including Halifax, Dartmouth, Bedford, Sackville, and nearby communities within HRM.
Role overview
- Service type: Contract, DSD frozen product delivery.
- Schedule: 2 days per week (set route and delivery window).
- Territory: Metro Halifax / HRM urban area (small-drop deliveries to multiple stores).
You will pick up frozen product from our designated warehouse and deliver direct to stores, ensuring product integrity, accurate counts, merchandise product and professional in-store interactions at each stop in the route.
Key responsibilities
- Complete direct store deliveries of frozen goods on assigned days and within agreed delivery windows.
- Load, transport, and off-load frozen product while maintaining proper temperature control and product handling standards.
- Perform small-drop deliveries (typically multiple stops per route) to grocery, convenience, and specialty retail locations across Metro Halifax.
- Obtain all required delivery documentation and signatures, and return paperwork and PODs electronically or in person as required.
- Communicate proactively about any delays, access issues, shorts, or overages and work with dispatch/contacts to resolve on the spot.
- Represent our company professionally with store staff and customers at every location.
Contractor requirements.
- Registered business or sole proprietorship able to invoice for services.
- Insurable, reliable refrigerated vehicle (small refrigerated truck) suitable for frozen product delivery.
- Valid Nova Scotia driver’s licence with a clean abstract and strong urban driving experience in HRM.
- Ability to lift and move frozen cases and navigate back rooms, freezers, and small loading areas safely.
- Smartphone and basic tech capability to use route sheets, e-POD apps, or email for schedules and confirmations.
- Familiarity with food safety and handling requirements for frozen foods (Food Handler or similar certification considered an asset).
