JOB SUMMARY
The Rental Technician role is a customer-facing position, focused on outfitting guests with the required ski, snowboard, skate and snowshoe equipment for a memorable day on the slopes. Technicians are also responsible for maintenance and repair of rental and customer equipment, pre-setting group booking equipment and retail sales, including lockers and accessories.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Selecting and fitting of ski and snowboard boots, skis, snowboards, snowshoes and any other related equipment for guests in accordance to safety standards
- Explaining to guests how to operate rental equipment, safety practices and guest responsibility for equipment during the rental, including the rental and return options
- Processing sales including data entry and related cash handling
- Receiving returned rentals and inspecting for damage
- Servicing and repair of Rental equipment including but not limited to waxing and sharpening
- Promoting and selling all Rental and Snow School related products
- Proactively and safely working alone as well as in a team environment, rotating through Cashier, Technician, Skate Pond, Slide Zone and Group Pre-set duties
- Maintaining cleanliness of all department areas and ensuring equipment is stored correctly
- Maintaining all documentation according to company policy, including proper delivery of release of liability waiver and rental agreement
- Ensuring equipment is serviced and tested according to industry standards
- Understanding system procedures created for guest set up, group pre-sets and daily traffic, including some data entry
- Engaging with the supervisory and management team, demonstrate pro-active, positive and effective communication to facilitate and support teamwork and cooperation
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position reports directly to the Manager, Rentals and Mountain Adventures, no direct supervisory responsibilities are given.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES
- This is an entry level position and training will be provided, however basic knowledge of ski and snowboard equipment is preferred
- Must be able to communicate effectively with guests in English in a respectful and enthusiastic manner by email, over the telephone and in person
- High attention to detail, with a focus on equipment accuracy and safety
- Excellent work ethic and attitude, with the ability to thrive in a high-volume environment
- Previous experience working in a rental shop is preferred
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Sirius are POS system an asset, including cash handling and cash-out procedures
- Must be willing to work a minimum of two days per week, with availability on three different days per week, one of which must be a weekend day with unrestricted availability
- Must be available for a minimum of 7 shifts over the Christmas Break period, including some holidays
- Limited time off is available over holidays and weekends and is only available on a first come-first serve basis
WORKING CONDITIONS
Hours of Operation are weather dependant. Due to the nature of the business, this position requires flexibility in terms of your work schedule. A variety of work schedules may include a variety of start times, including shifts on weekends and statutory holidays. Shifts require standing for long periods of time, lifting, twisting, and other forms of manual tasks.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$19.55/hour to $22.87/hour
