Summary:
Under supervision and guidance, performs an array of functions that may include accepting and processing incoming stock and materials, picking and filling orders from stock, packing and shipping orders, or managing, organizing, and retrieving products in the warehouse or yard. Maintains and operates all authorized equipment to perform all jobs.
Responsibilities and Duties:
· MUST HAVE RELIABLE VEHICLE AND VALID LICENSE (NO BUS ROUTE)
· MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK ANY SHIFT.
· Loads and unloads trucks.
· Identifies, marks and places materials according to established procedures.
· Sorts metal sheets and parts, scrap metal and other materials.
· Transports raw materials and finished products throughout the plant manually or using powered equipment.
· Updates location of materials.
· Stores material in designated storage areas.
· Adjusts storage areas according to production and shipping requirements.
· Optimizes space utilization and stock inventory procedures.
· Prepares materials for shipment by verifying location.
· Pick orders.
· Prepares orders for shipping according to established procedures.
· Completes necessary paperwork.
· Operates a computer to maintain inventory of warehouse materials as required.
· Controls and operates equipment such as loaders, trucks, forklifts, and cranes.
· Completes shift inspections of equipment, vehicles, and hand tools.
· Operates basic hand tools and powered hand tools. i.e. Drills, Disc Grinders etc.
· Operates warehouse equipment. i.e. Metal Cutting Saws, Cutting Torches, Strapping Machines, Tumblers.
· Verifies location of materials.
· Matches paperwork with product to ensure accuracy in the order.
· Sorts, packs, crates and packages materials and finished products.
· Applies the proper labeling.
· Moves materials and finished products to staging areas.
· Determines space requirements and position of shipment on the trucks and lays out position of shipment.
· Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
· Co-ordinates work activities with fellow employees, as and where necessary.
· Identifies and reports defects; controls non-conformities according to established procedures.
· Complies with ISO and Safe Work Procedures.
· Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work area.
· Performs routine housekeeping and preventive maintenance tasks.
· Identifies and reports all unsafe work conditions or situations.
· Recommends measures or actions to improve productivity and product quality.
· Accomplishes results and performs tasks of others who may be absent or otherwise not available.
· May perform other tasks as assigned.
Critical Skills and Abilities
· Knowledge of decimals and fractions
· Ability to read tape measure and caliper
· Basic computer skills
Pay: From $18.36 per hour
