The Site Services Facility Worker - Skilled plays an important leadership role on the ground, supporting the Site Services Lead Hand and Superintendent by overseeing day-to-day execution of general services tasks. This includes mentoring junior staff, maintaining safety compliance, ensuring quality work execution, and facilitating clear communication between the field crew and site leadership.
Location
This position will be based at the Rook I site on a 2 week in/2 week out schedule. NexGen’s Rook I Project Site is located approximately 155km north of La Loche, Saskatchewan. Travel is coordinated by NexGen.

Ensure the NexGen camp and all associated areas operate smoothly on a day-to-day basis, maintaining a safe, functional, and comfortable environment for all residents.
- Receive work requests, assign tasks, action priority items, and follow through to completion, all while ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and to company standards.
- Conduct proactive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of camp buildings, machinery, utilities, and equipment; coordinate external support when required.
- Provide day-to-day direction, mentorship, and oversight of a small crew, ensuring tasks are clearly communicated, productivity is maintained, and quality expectations are met.
- Assist in planning daily and weekly work activities, balancing reactive issues with preventative maintenance and operational priorities.
- Ensure adequate materials, tools, equipment, and staffing levels are available to support camp functionality; track usage and initiate supply requests as required.
- Provide daily and weekly operational reports, including completed work, outstanding issues, safety concerns, and upcoming priorities, to supervisors and site leadership.
- Demonstrate strong safety leadership by ensuring all work complies with company safety, environmental, and confidentiality requirements; identify hazards, implement controls, and intervene when unsafe work is observed.
- Conduct routine inspections of facilities and infrastructure, identify deficiencies, and implement corrective actions to reduce downtime and emergency repairs.
- Assist in the development and coaching of less experienced workers, including NexGen student and pathways program employees, by providing hands-on instruction and feedback.
- Support emergency response, winterization, and extreme weather preparedness, including infrastructure protection and urgent repairs.
- Perform other reasonable tasks as requested by management.

1-3 years construction or site services experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of site operations and daily maintenance.
- Able to work with Power tools (skill saws, drills, mitre saws, etc.).
- Light civil knowledge (trench backfills, ground compaction methods, use of laser level, etc.).
- Small engine and pump system knowledge.
- Able to work in diverse weather conditions.
- Assist in the development of lesser experienced facility workers.
- Able to lift 50lbs.
- Able to work various labour activities (shovelling, climb up/down ladders, manually handling materials up to 50 lbs for periods of time, etc.).
- Successful NexGen Student or Pathways program employee.
- Valid Driver's License
