We are seeking an experienced and motivated Pipe Layer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation of underground utilities including storm, sanitary, water, hydro, and telecommunications systems. This position requires a strong understanding of grades, pipe specifications, utility installation standards, and site safety practices.
Rovan Enterprises Ltd. is a Chilliwack-based civil construction company specializing in underground utilities, earthworks, and site development throughout the Fraser Valley. We have an upcoming project in Langley, with the majority of our work located throughout the Fraser Valley region. We are looking for reliable, hardworking individuals who take pride in their work, arrive on time, and maintain consistent attendance.
The ideal candidate will work well within a team environment, follow direction, and contribute to the safe and efficient completion of projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and grade stakes (Bonus)
- Set up laser levels and transits to establish line and grade
- Excavate and prepare trenches in coordination with equipment operators
- Lay and align pipe to proper grade and specifications (PVC, concrete, HDPE, Ductile Iron, etc.)
- Install manholes, catch basins, and service connections
- Ensure proper compaction and backfill around pipe systems
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Direct and support labourers as needed
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, equipment operators, and inspectors
- Identify and resolve on-site issues or conflicts related to pipe installation
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in civil construction with a focus on pipe installation
- Proficiency in using lasers, levels, and other layout tools
- Solid understanding of safety procedures and WorkSafeBC regulations
- Ability to read and understand civil construction drawings and blueprints (Bonus)
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills (Bonus)
- Physically fit and capable of working in all weather conditions
- Valid driver’s license (Class 5 or higher preferred)
- Attendance and punctuality are critical to this role
Assets:
- CSTS, First Aid, and other safety certifications
- Experience working in municipal, subdivision, and commercial infrastructure projects
- Knowledge of trench safety and shoring practices
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $28.50-$40.00 per hour
