Key Responsibilities
Dispensing & Clinical Support (Under Pharmacist Supervision)
- Prescription Processing: Accurately enter new prescriptions, refills, and medication profile updates into the pharmacy software (Kroll).
- Medication Preparation: Assist in counting, packaging, labeling, and assembling medications, including compliance/blister packaging.
- Clinical Checks & Compounding: Perform initial checks on medications and assist with basic non-sterile compounding and repackaging under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
Patient Care & Communication
- Customer Service: Greet patients warmly, answer incoming phone calls, and triage general inquiries while maintaining strict patient confidentiality (adhering to FOIP/HIA standards).
- Patient Counselling: Provide counseling on prescription medications, over-the-counter (OTC) products, and health aids under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
Pharmacy Operations
- Inventory Management: Receive, unpack, and restock inventory, perform cycle and narcotic counts, and process expired medications.
- Administrative Support: File hard-copy prescriptions and prepare billing and delivery paperwork.
What You Bring (Qualifications)
- Education: Currently enrolled in and have completed the 1st or 2nd year of an accredited Canadian Pharmacy degree program (BSP or PharmD).
- Licensing: Active registration (in good standing) as a Pharmacy Student with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP).
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with pharmacy software—experience with Kroll is highly preferred.
- Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, exceptional communication skills, teamwork mindset, and a passion for community healthcare.
