SVR Lawyers is seeking an experienced Litigation Legal Assistant to join our team in downtown Calgary. The successful candidate is a self-starter with high attention to detail, a sense of urgency, and excellent organizational skills that effectively support 2 or more lawyers with busy litigation practices.
Key requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in general litigation
- Post-secondary education from a recognized Legal Assistant/Paralegal program (equivalent experience may be considered)
- Highly organized and pro-active approach to meeting deadlines while producing accurate quality work
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs as well as other software such as NetDocs, Unity, Remindex, or similar programs
- Substantial reliability and adaptability accompanied by a professional demeanor and conduct
- Works efficiently as a part of a team or independently
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct court searches
- Draft correspondence and court documents
- Pre-trial and trial preparation including maintenance of all trial binders and limitation systems
- Proactively manage timelines of tasks and files to ensure team meets required statutes of limitations and deadlines
- Schedule applications and questionings
- Manage workflow for team of lawyers
- Coordinate and schedule meetings and maintain calendars
- Preparation of accounts and time entry
- General administrative tasks including office and file management
- Other tasks as required
