SUMMARY
We are seeking an experienced Pipe Layer for civil sewer and watermain installations. This is a unionized position on our road construction crews. You will install, repair, and maintain underground watermains, sanitary sewers, and storm drainage systems.
PRIMARY SCOPE OF ROLE
Trench Preparation and Safety Compliance
- Assemble, install, and maintain trench boxes and shoring systems.
- Continuously monitor trench walls and soil stability to prevent hazardous cave-ins.
- Securely hook up pipes and equipment for excavation operators to lower into trenches.
- Strictly follow provincial safety regulations, municipal bylaws, and Company procedures.
- Install and maintain dewatering pumps and systems
Precision Pipe Installation and Alignment
- Configure pipe lasers, transits, and optical levels to match engineering blueprints
- Carefully grade trench bottoms with bedding material to support the incoming pipe
- Align and join watermains, sanitary lines, and storm sewers
- Install fittings according to the manufacturer’s specifications
- Inspect every pipe section for structural defects before finalizing the connection
- Install catch basins, manholes, and precast concrete structures
- Complete connections to existing infrastructure
Equipment Collaboration and Site Support
- Guide excavators and loaders safely around open trenches using standard hand signals
- Guide excavators and loaders in the placement of granular and backfill materials around finished pipes
- Assist in site clean-up and site restoration
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- 3+ years of experience in the installation of sewers and watermains
- Experience in heavy civil construction projects
- Punctual, reliable, and hard working
- Enjoys being part of a team
- Comfort in working in a rugged outdoor environment
- Physically fit; Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Must be organized and able to plan ahead
- Valid G Driver`s License
- Safety conscious

- Hourly Wage: $30.77/h
