Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 9-5, Friday 9-4, Tuesday 12-8 (no remote work)
Job Summary:
The primary role of the MOA is to manage and support patients and collaborate with the Physicians and RPN team. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Ensure examination rooms are stocked appropriately with medical supplies and other
- Escort patients to examining rooms and assist with vitals and clinical measurements based on visit type
- Communicate with doctors and nurses for patients follow-ups or complicated triage
- Schedule, manage and co-ordinate patient appointments
- Handle phone calls and manage incoming faxes
- Obtain diagnostic results, consults, etc. when needed
- Under the direction of the Physician, notify patients of INR's and assist with nursing home requests
- Liaison with pharmacies regarding patient renewals/scripts
- Utilize the messaging module of the EMR to maintain communication and “to do” list between Reception/Management/Physicians
- Maintenance and sterilization of instruments
- Monitor inventory of medical paper products and medical supplies
- Arrange for medical equipment that may need ordered and/or repaired
- Book and follow up on any pending/urgent referrals to community specialist, diagnostic imaging, etc.
- Upon completion of Intramuscular Injections course administer injections (vaccines) and record accurately in EMR (Telus) under medical directive
Requirements:
- Medical Office Assistant diploma or certificate preferred
- Candidates with experience as a Medical Receptionist (at least 2 years) who are eager to expand their skills and advance into an MOA role or who have exceptional customer service skills with a friendly, professional and compassionate approach to patient care are encouraged to apply
- Strong work ethic, highly organized, detail-oriented and are comfortable using electronic medical records
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Reliable, punctual and consistently professional
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and complying with all privacy and clinic policies
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast paced, team-based clinical environment
