Nexus Finance is a fast-growing business financing company helping Canadian business owners access working capital, commercial financing, and funding solutions.
We are hiring a Business Development Manager – Referral Partnerships to build and manage our referral partner network.
This is not a passive account management role. This is a hunter role.
Your job is to find, recruit, activate, and manage referral partners who can send qualified business owners to Nexus Finance. These partners may include accountants, bookkeepers, commercial insurance brokers, merchant services representatives, business consultants, equipment vendors, commercial brokers, and other professionals who work directly with small and medium-sized businesses.
Nexus Finance pays referral partners commissions on funded deals. Your role is to build this referral channel into a consistent source of monthly revenue.
The right candidate is professional, organized, highly outbound-driven, and comfortable prospecting every day.
Responsibilities
Build and manage a pipeline of potential referral partners.
Prospect accountants, bookkeepers, brokers, consultants, merchant service reps, vendors, and other SMB-facing professionals.
Contact potential partners by phone, email, LinkedIn, and in person where appropriate.
Explain Nexus Finance’s referral program and business financing solutions.
Onboard new referral partners.
Train partners on what types of businesses we can help.
Keep partners active through consistent follow-up.
Track all partner activity inside the CRM.
Coordinate with the internal sales team when referrals come in.
Monitor referrals, applications, funded deals, and partner payouts.
Build long-term referral relationships that produce consistent deal flow.
Requirements
2+ years of B2B sales, business development, partnerships, or channel sales experience.
Comfortable making outbound calls daily.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Professional enough to speak with accountants, brokers, consultants, and business owners.
Organized and comfortable using a CRM.
Strong follow-up habits.
Money-motivated and comfortable working toward targets.
Able to work independently without being micromanaged.
Experience selling to small business owners is a strong asset.
Experience in business financing, merchant services, commercial insurance, payroll, POS, equipment leasing, or business lending is a strong asset.
Compensation
Base salary: $50,000 per year.
Commission: 5% of Nexus gross revenue generated from referral partners you recruit and activate.
Commission is paid after Nexus receives payment on funded deals.
Uncapped earning potential.
Expected first-year earnings: $75,000–$120,000+, depending on performance.

Occasional partner meetings or networking events may be required.

Hybrid remote in Montreal, QC.
This role is based in Montreal. Hybrid flexibility is available for the right candidate, but we strongly prefer someone who can work from our office regularly during the first 60–90 days while the partner program is being built.
Pay: $50,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
