Shop Foreman - Evening Shift (Journeyman Welder – CWB Certified)
Location: Fort Macleod, AB
Schedule: Monday–Thursday: 2:00pm–12:30am

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Shop Foreman / Supervisor who is a Certified Journeyman Welder with active CWB certification to lead daily shop operations. This role requires strong welding knowledge, leadership capability, and a commitment to safety and quality. You will play a key role in maintaining production schedules, mentoring staff, and ensuring all work meets CSA and CWB standards.
Responsibilities
- Supervise daily shop floor operations to ensure production targets, schedules, and deadlines are met.
- Lead, train, mentor, and support shop personnel with a strong focus on welding quality and safety compliance.
- Ensure all welding and fabrication work meets drawings, specifications, CSA standards, and CWB requirements.
- Oversee the safe operation, inspection, and maintenance of shop equipment and machinery.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure efficient workflow and on-time project delivery.
- Enforce safety regulations and promote a strong safety-first culture.
- Troubleshoot production and welding-related issues and implement corrective actions.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with procurement for timely material replenishment.
- Conduct regular team meetings to communicate production goals, safety updates, and expectations.
- Maintain accurate shop documentation, production records, and quality reports.
- Foster a positive, productive, and collaborative team environment.
Requirements
- Certified Journeyman Welder (required).
- Active CWB certification (SMAW/FCAW/GMAW as applicable).
- Proven experience in a shop foreman, supervisor, or lead hand role within a fabrication or manufacturing environment.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
- Extensive knowledge of welding processes, fabrication practices, shop equipment, and production workflows.
- Ability to train, mentor, and motivate team members to meet production and quality targets.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Commitment to maintaining high safety, quality, and workmanship standards.
- Proficiency with shop management software and tools (Airtable experience is an asset).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and technical drawings.
- Thorough knowledge of industry safety standards, CSA codes, and CWB requirements.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $42.00-$46.00 per hour
