Position Summary
Ingersoll Paper Box Co. is seeking an experienced Afternoon Shift Supervisor to oversee production operations during the afternoon shift. Reporting to the Production Manager, this position is responsible for providing leadership to production and support teams, promoting a safe workplace, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring production schedules and customer delivery requirements are met.
The successful candidate will be a collaborative leader with strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise production and support departments during the afternoon shift.
- Promote and maintain a safe work environment by ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and applicable health and safety legislation.
- Act as the primary point of contact for co-workers during the afternoon shift.
- Monitor production performance and coordinate staffing to optimize efficiency and meet production and delivery schedules.
- Reassign team members as operational requirements change.
- Work collaboratively with Quality and Production teams to identify, investigate, and resolve quality concerns.
- Communicate production, quality, staffing, equipment, and operational issues to the Production Manager and Quality Manager.
- Support the implementation of new procedures, policies, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with special projects as assigned.
- Ensure production and warehouse areas remain clean, organized, and compliant with housekeeping standards.
- Verify that appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is available, maintained, and properly used.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Production Manager or General Manager.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a packaging or manufacturing production environment.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience is considered an asset.
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), GED, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational abilities.
- Intermediate computer skills, including the ability to use common workplace software.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
