Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced, reliable full-time cook to join our cafeteria team located inside the Transport Canada building near the Ottawa airport. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, values a consistent daytime schedule, and takes pride in preparing quality food in a professional environment.
You will be responsible for daily food preparation, cooking, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen while providing excellent service to our customers.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook menu items consistently and efficiently
- Work independently during assigned shifts
- Maintain food safety and cleanliness standards at all times
- Manage prep, service, and cleanup
- Communicate clearly with customers and coworkers
- Use POS and KDS systems as needed
- Ensure smooth daily kitchen operations
Requirements:
- Minimum 8 years of cooking experience required
- Food Safety Certification required
- Proven culinary skills and kitchen experience
- Previous supervisory or managerial kitchen experience preferred
- Comfortable using POS and KDS systems
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
Security Clearance Requirement:
This position requires eligibility for Reliability Status clearance. Applicants must have a verifiable background in Canada or an allied country for the past five years, with no significant gaps in residency or employment. A background check is part of the process.
