About Stagefab
Stagefab Custom Manufacturing Inc. designs, manufactures, and installs custom theatrical drapery and track systems for theatres, schools, performing arts centres, and event venues .
We are looking for an experienced, safety-focused installer to join our team on an on-call, part-time basis, with strong potential for the role to grow into full-time as our installation schedule expands.
Position Overview
The Drapery & Track Installer is responsible for the safe and professional installation of theatrical drapery systems, track, and rigging hardware. This role requires comfort working at heights, valid drivers licence, strong teamwork skills, and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
Work is project-based and cyclical, with busy installation periods and occasional quieter times .
Key Responsibilities
- Install drapery track systems, rigging hardware, and theatrical drapery in accordance with project drawings and company standards
- Safely access overhead structures using ladders, scaffolding, or MEWPs (aerial lifts)
- Work at heights while using approved fall protection equipment
- Inspect and verify installation points and ensure proper anchoring and attachment
- Maintain and inspect installation tools and equipment
- Collaborate with internal team members, contractors, and clients onsite
- Read and interpret technical drawings and installation layouts
- Troubleshoot and resolve installation challenges in real time
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site at all times
- Adhere to all Stagefab safety policies and WorkSafeBC regulations
Safety & Working at Heights
This position requires working at heights. Installers must:
- Be comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and elevated platforms
- Use fall protection equipment (full-body harness, lanyards, horizontal lifelines where required)
- Follow safe work practices and all Occupational Health & Safety regulations
- Lift materials up to 50 lbs and assist with heavier lifts as part of a team
Fall Protection certification and Aerial Lift training are strong assets.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
- Minimum 3 years experience in carpentry, construction, rigging, or entertainment installation work
- Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency with hand and power tools
- Comfortable working at heights
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Clear verbal communication skills
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- Physically capable of lifting materials and performing installation duties
Assets:
- Experience installing theatrical rigging or drapery track
- Fall Protection certification
- Aerial Lift / MEWP certification
- First Aid certification
- Ability to read technical drawings and schematics
Schedule
- Full time
- Hours vary depending on project schedule
- Daytime, occasional early mornings, and possible evening/weekend work
- Travel to job sites required
Compensation
- $28.00 – $35.00 per hour (based on experience and certifications)
