Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Early Learning and Child Care Educator to join our team. This role is vital in fostering a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for young children to develop essential skills and reach their full potential. The ideal candidate will have a passion for early childhood education, excellent communication skills, and experience working with children. Duties
- Know, understand, and abide by the NWT Early Learning and Child Care Act;
- To be aware of early childhood development and theory and the ability to apply that theory to the Yellowknife Day Care's programming;
- Responsible to work according to the program schedule in conjunction and approved by the Executive Director, with a group of children, providing for their physical, emotional and intellectual care and safety;
- Responsible for implementing a variety and balance of activities within the Day Care program, ensuring that activities provided will promote positive self-esteem, and the emotional, intellectual, and social development of the children;
- Assist other teachers, floaters, new staff, students, and other staff by helping to settle them into the Centre and provide ongoing colleague support;
- Responsible for continual observation and other informal development assessments of children, and when necessary, under the direction of the Executive Director;
- To set an example and be a role model for the children;
- To abide by the Yellowknife Day Care Association's Code of Conduct and Employee Handbook.
Qualifications
You must have:
Early Learning and Child Care Certificate from the GNWT
First Aid and CPR Certification
Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check
Record of Immunization with TB Test Screening
Early Childhood Education diploma or equivalent training (Equivalent training is considered).

Pay: $35.00-$40.00 per hour
